WTA - SINGLES: Finals - Guadalajara (World), hard
The Tournament of Champions will be played in Guadalajara, Mexico, by two debutants who few, if any, would have guessed before the season.
Barbora Krejčíková has had the season of her life, crowned with the Roland Garros title and a fantastic third place in the rankings. But Krejcikova is also playing doubles and the huge amount of matches at the end of the season is of course evident, she is clearly running out of breath, which was now seen at the Billie Jean King Cup, when she lost both matches against Kerber and Bencic in her home arena. In addition, Guadalajara is supposed to have tropical temperatures of around 30 degrees, which I don't think will help her either.
Anett Kontaveit, on the other hand, is playing her best tennis of the year at the end of the season, I would even say that she is in the form of her life at the moment and her reward is her first qualification to a championship tournament and her first career ranking in the top ten. The Estonian has an amazing 36-9 score on the hard court this year, dominating three indoor tournaments in the last month and losing just one of her last 20 matches in Indian Wells to Jabeur. Anett is serving great, showing such a controlled aggressive game and really playing fantastic tennis right now. She's one of the main favourites for me in this tournament and I think she'll go into it with a win over the Czech player of the season.
My bet:
Anett Kontaveit @ 1.40 (bet365)
