19.10.21 - 15:40 CET
WTA - SINGLES: Moscow (Russia), hard (indoor) - 1/16-finals
This match will offer us a duel between Russian tennis player Anastasia Potapova (77) and Simona Halep (17) from Romania.
Potapova is a 20-year-old player and the highest she has reached is 64th (July 2019). She has a neutral score of 21/21 so far this year. At the recent indoor tournament in Ostrava, she qualified through Voegele and Alexandrova and beat Garcia in the main event and got within 3 sets with Kvitova. At her last tournament in Nur-Sultan she beat Pattinama and Mladenovic and dropped out in the quartefinal after a close match with Peterson.
Halep is a 30-year-old tennis player and she has experienced what it is like to reign over women's tennis (October 2017). She hasn't played much this year due to various health complications and has a 17/8 score. Last time she played in Indian Wells, where she was eliminated in the 2nd round by Sasnovich. Halep recently broke up with her coach Cahill and she also got married.
I'm going to try to play a young Russian in this match. She's playing at home, and she's been doing pretty well indoors the last few weeks. Halep hasn't had a great season this year, she changed coaches and her concentration on tennis has probably not been 100% lately.
