AFRICA: World Cup - Qualification
Group J: Benin, D.R. Congo, Madagascar, Tanzania
Looking at the membership of Group J, it is clear that D.R. Congo must be the favourite to advance to the next stage.
Only the winner of the group advances to the next stage of the qualification and Congo have already lost points after a surprising 1:1 draw at home with Tanzania on 2 September.
Qualifying for the World Cup is a prestigious event, so the stars of African teams are trying to get home to help their national team. D.R. Congo managed to field a solid team for these September games - Mbokani, Bakambu, Mbemba, Bolasie, Moutoussamy, Tisserand or Liyundama.
Benin wins first group away match against Madagascar.
It's a fact that quite a few Benin players play in Europe, but they are not the same addresses as the Congo side. Hountondji, for example, has been promoted to Ligue 1 with Clermont or Mounie in attack. But enough players are playing in Europe in the second leagues and there is a difference if Tisserand from Congo plays for Wolfsburg or Soukou from Benin plays for Sandhausen (2. Bundesliga).
Benin has the home advantage, which seems to me to be a big advantage in African football, but I'm betting on the higher quality of the visitors and the fact that a loss could be fatal to their chances of advancing.
Prediction:
Draw No Bet - DR Congo @ 2.37 (bet365)
