In the clash between the two newcomers to this year's competition, the slight favourite will be the home side Venezia, who beat a strong Fiorentina 1-0 in their last appearance here and put in a very good performance. The home team's score (7:15) suggests that we can't expect any wildness. In the last round they lost 1:3 at Sassuolo and they have already added the first game this year in which at least four goals were scored. In Saturday's game, they lost midfielder Busio, whose start is in danger (it was he who equalised earlier at the Cagliari stadium). Venezia will want to break their streak of three losses in a row to Salernitana, and now they have the perfect opportunity to do so.
The visitors have no better offense than the home team (8 goals), but they have already conceded six more goals. In their last game they lost 2:4 at home to Empoli, when the score was 0:4 after the first half. So the new coach Colantuono certainly didn't have an ideal debut, and he has to deal with a large injury list before the next round. One of the few certainties is the offensive duo of Ribéry - Simy, who will be looking to break down the solid home defence.
