ATP - hard - 1/16-finals
Brooksby, at 20 years old, is one of the greatest talents American and world tennis. He's having a great season this year. We won't talk about his challangers here, let's go straight to the higher level tournaments, because Brooksby has already had success there too.
One of them is still fresh, having reached the semi-finals of the US Open in preparation, beating Anderson, Tiafoe, Auger-Aliassime and Millman along the way, which are all very good and better ranked players.
In Cincinnati, he was knocked out in the first round in three sets by Basilashivli, but he is back in form at the US Open, beating Winston finalist, Salem Ymer, 3-1 and another talented American Fritz. Again, players better placed in the rankings.
Aslan Karatsev was great at the start of the season, playing in the semi-finals of the Australian Open and winning the title in Dubai. But gradually his form began to drop. Before the US Open he lost 6 out of the last 8 matches and he hasn't impressed here either. He needed four sets against the clay player Munar, even turning from 0:2 to sets with Thompson in the 2nd round.
I have more trust in Brooksby to advance, he is playing more at ease, form is on his side, as well as the home crowd, which can give him a lot of hype.
