Coach Antonio Conte started his new job on the Tottenham bench without defeat, but he followed up his Europa League win (3:2 Vitesse) with a goalless draw at Everton in the league. Spurs need to improve defensively, so a clean sheet certainly came in handy, but on the other hand, for the first time in twenty years they failed to produce a single shot on target in two league games in a row. It is widely expected that this will change against Leeds, as both of last year's clashes saw at least three goals, with Tottenham winning 3-0 at home. However, their home performances this year have been somewhat mixed. The London side managed to beat Manchester City (1-0) and scored 11 goals in three cup appearances, but lost 0-3 to Manchester United or Chelsea. Leeds have not yet followed up their impressive performances from last year and although they have not lost three times in a row, their only wins this year came against the newcomers to the competition (Watford, Norwich). The clash of two famous managers will thus look better for the Italian strategist.
