The home team had a nice winning streak, but the last two games went badly (3-4 after shootout in Minnesota and 3-6 in Winnipeg). Columbus, on the other hand, would like to build on their last home win against San Jose Sharks 6-4.
Toronto goes into the game with a 17-7-2 score (10-3-1 at home) compared to Columbus' 13-10-0 score (4-7-0 away).
Toronto Maple Leafs, or rather the team's coach, is eyeing the return of some players. The question is whether Mitchell Marner will start. Rasmus Sandin is nursing a lower body injury and it is also a question whether he will be ready for the game. Well, the last player with a question mark is Jason Spezza, who is facing a potential suspension for a knee foul, so it is unclear if he will be able to hit the field for the game. Ilya Mikheyev and Petr Mrazek will also be unavailable from Toronto squad. Both players are scheduled to return in mid-December.
Columbus will be without three players, Joonas Korpisalo, Dean Kukan and Patrik Laine.
Toronto vs Columbus (standings)
* goals scored per game: 3.077 (13th) vs 3.217 (11th)
* goals conceded per game: 2.346 (3rd) vs 3.261 (24th)
* shots on goal per game: 34.46 (5th) vs 29.57 (22nd)
* success shooting percentage: 8.93% (23rd) vs 10.88% (5th)
* shot success rate of all goalies: 92.50% (2nd) vs 90.50% (22nd)
Interestingly, Columbus is scoring more goals on average than Toronto, which, at least from a roster perspective, is much better. Toronto can build on both home support and a quality defense, getting almost the fewest goals (3rd in NHL) and Toronto goalies have the second best save percentage (92.50%). Can Toronto players bounce back from the last two losses? I believe they can, but it won't be easy.
My bet:
Toronto Maple Leafs to win in regular time @ 1.58 (bet365)
