Tonight we have a game between two Canadian teams - Toronto Maple Leafs vs Calgary Flames and I expect the home team to win.
These two teams have had a very different start to the season, Toronto had a very bad start, but now they have won 4 out of 5 games, the last one being a very nice win against Flyers, 17 points in 14 games. Calgary had a great start to the season, Flames first line was in incredible form, but now 4 losses in 5 games, last loss tonight against Montreal where they were missing a lot of important players, and the game before that they didn't make it at home against Sharks where they were missing half of their stars, which was quite unexpected. Flames have 13 games 17 points.
Toronto has long been one of the biggest Stanley Cup contenders of the Canadian representatives, they have a great team, especially in terms of forward play, but I would definitely give credit to goalie Cambell who has a 93.64 save percentage, he made cleen sheet last time out and put in a great performance. Team is currently missing their captain Tavares, who led team in scoring, he was supposed to play in the last game, he should be in the lineup today, there are no more details, but even if he doesn't play there is still more quality in home team.
Calgary has been struggling in the middle of the table for a couple of years now, this year they had a great start, mainly thanks to the great form of first line players, but first line stopped pulling and suddenly the team is not working. Weaker performances from stars like Monahan don't help team either, fortunately the defence is working quite well and goalkeeper Markstrom with 93.53% success rate is also the reason why they only conceded 30 goals in 13 games.
For me, Flames' good defense won't be enough and given their actual form and performance, I'll play the home team to win tonight.
