Don't expect big miracles from the first NHL games after a one-week break. It was the Christmas break, many teams had an extended break due to the coronavirus, and they are far from having complete lineups. This is also true for Montreal and Tampa. Canadiens last played on December 17, 11 days ago, and still have many important players among the injured, including captain Brendan Gallagher, Josh Anderson, Christian Dvorak and Mike Hoffman. They all belong on the power play and are key players in the lineup. Overall, Canadiens are struggling. After their final appearance last season, they have not caught a start at all and are one of the worst teams in this season. They've scored just 13 goals in their last eight games. Tampa still has Nikita Kucherov and Anthony Cirelli among the injured, with a question mark over Brayden Point. Lightning have struggled on the power play all season. Although Lightning will be without their number one goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy and defenseman Erik Chernak, who have covid, they are one of the teams that have mastered the system and the players called up from the farm understand it perfectly. Towards the back they shouldn't have a problem. Up front, however, both teams lack star power and after such a long layoff, it will be very scrappy overall. Seven goals shouldn't fall.
My bet:
Under 6.5 Goals @ 1.65
