Angers are showing unexpectedly good results this season. After ten rounds, they have 16 points, a 15:11 score and are fifth in the table, only two points behind second place. Last time Angers lost 1:2 to the favoured PSG. In this match, they again showed a very good performance, although they had very low ball possession, it was 2:2 on shots on target and Angers even led from the 36th to the 69th minute. Angers won four times out of ten rounds, 2-0 in Strasbourg, 3-0 at home to a strong Lyon, 2-0 at home to Rennes and 3-2 at home to Metz.
St. Etienne is in a big crisis, and not just in terms of performance on the pitch. This club is basically out of money and their owner is trying to sell it. That certainly doesn't make the players feel better, the club had to sell in the summer and there was no money for new signings. As a result, St. Etienne is last in the table with 4 points and a 9:23 score and this year it looks like nothing more than a fight for survival. St. Etienne have lost six out of ten rounds. After a 1-1 draw at home to Lyon, it was expected that St. Etienne would catch up and be able to build on their decent performance, but the opposite happened, the team was beaten 1-5 at Strasbourg.
The form is definitely on Angers' side in this match, St. Etienne's misery doesn't seem to be ending, and we need to take advantage of that.
