PORTUGAL: Liga Portugal - Round 1
Vizela played in the 2nd highest Portuguese league last season, making them newcomers in the 1st league. They finished the 2nd league in 2nd place, which meant they automatically advance to 1st league.
Vizela played 7 games before the start of the league. The first 6 matches were friendlies, where they played only against Portuguese clubs. 5 times out of these 6 friendly matches were against teams playing in the 1st Portuguese League and Vizela lost all of them. They only managed 1 draw, which was against Estoril, who play in the second league. In their last match they lost in the cup against Estrella (2:1), who were playing in the 3rd league last season.
Sporting played 4 friendly matches. The first match was a draw (2:2) but after that, they managed to win the other three matches (for example, they beat home 3:2 Lyon). The last match they played was the Portuguese Super Cup, which Sporting won 2:1 against Braga and won their first trophy this season.
A champion against a newcomer. The form and comfort from the friendlies are also on Sporting's side. Vizela also lost the cup, while Sporting won the Super Cup. Today I see a clear favourite who will have the advantage of his own home atmosphere.
