Southampton made an unexpected start in the last round and scored two goals. Unfortunately for the home side, it wasn't enough to get the full points as Leicester managed to equalise each time and the two teams eventually settled amicably. Brighton's Wednesday's performance also ended in a draw, as they took a valuable point at West Ham (1-1). This would have been nice in itself, however, the visitors have failed to win in ten competitive matches in a row and the high number of draws is very frustrating for them. This match at St. Mary's Stadium is not expected to be completely different, not least because both teams have managed to score in the previous three meetings. Brighton are still a few points behind the top six and can rate their season positively, especially thanks to a great start. Southampton, on the other hand, are 15th and need to work hard to move away from the relegation zone, as last year's end of the season did not go well for this club. And if something similar were to happen again, they would not be able to avoid parting with the top competition. But nobody is thinking about that and the home side will fly into the game again, as they have done in their last two home appearances, scoring in the third minute.
