EUROPE: World Cup - Qualification
Here I have to go for Slovakia, who must play only to win to keep their chances of advancing.
Cyprus, whose start in qualification wasn't so bad, is coming to Slovakia, but their last matches didn't go so well. Yesterday they lost 0:2 at home to Russia and before that they were even beaten 0:3 by Malta.
Slovakia, on the other hand, has been playing pretty well in the last few games, a 2:1 home win against Russia, a good 1:1 draw in Slovenia and a little bit unfortunate 0:1 loss at home to Croatia in their last game. The Croatians scored the only goal of the match in the 86th minute, but then Slovakia have a big chance to equalise, but unfortunately for them there was no goal. In the first match in Cyprus it was a 0:0 draw and now, I believe, Slovakia will be able to win it.
Slovakia's squad is really quite interesting - Škriniar, Hancko and Šatka in defence, Kucka, Lobotka, Hamsik or Weiss in midfield and Schranz or Boženík in attack. That really doesn't look bad at all.
If we take into account the fact that Cyprus lost 0:3 to Malta in their last away game and Slovakia won 2:1 against Russia in their last home game and played an absolutely even game with Croatia, I can't see anything other than a win for Slovakia.
My bet:
Handicap: Slovakia -1.5 @ 2.32 (local bookie)
