Serena Williams signed rookie card (2003) became the most expensive women's sports card ever sold. An anonymous bidder paid $44,280 for it at auction last week, according to Goldin Auctions.

Until now, the record was held by former football player Mia Hamm's rookie card, which sold for $34,440 in June.

Just for comparsion, if you feel like this is high price... Overall record for the most expensive collectible sports card is $6,6M (!) paid for 1909 Honus Wagner baseball card in August 2021. Anyway, I'm impressed by the recent sell and I'm glad it's someone like Serena, who really dominated the sport for years and years. Not her fan, not her hater, this is nice achievement.

But my main wow goes to that $6,6m card didn't know that, my personal tip was that the most rare collectible card would be around $500k today.

So I had to Google that Honus Wagner baseball card, need to say that the card has the aura of uniqueness...
