GERMANY: 2. Bundesliga - Round 3
Schalke is relegated from the Bundesliga to the second league. They had a good pre-season, winning 3 out of 5 games and drawing 2. Wins against regional teams 14:0, 8:0 and a win against Dutch Vitesse 3:2. Draws with Russian champions Zenit 0:0 and Ukrainian Shakhtar 0:0.
In the first round they lost 3:1 at home to a strong Hamburg. In the second round they came back from Kiel with a 3:0 win. In the DFB Cup, they defeated regional team Villingen 4:1 and secured their qualification to the next round.
Simon Terodde came to Schalke from Hamburg and scored 3 goals in the first two games. Last season he scored 24 goals in 33 games for Hamburg.
