Sampdoria managed the Ligurian derby on Friday, in which they beat Spezia, but nine points after the opening nine rounds is certainly not a start that their players and fans can be happy with. Sampdoria won at home in the league for the first time this season, and after losses to AC Milan and Napoli (and a draw with Inter), they are facing another cup team.
Atalanta's last game against Udinese was a 1-1 draw, when they conceded a goal in injury time. They also lost their coach Gasperini, albeit only for one game, who was suspended in match. However, the visitors have not lost at Sampdoria three times in a row (2 wins, 1 draw) and have kept a clean sheet in the last two occasions.
