ITALY: Serie A
This year's newcomer Salernitana is starting to become a favourite opponent. The home side have lost four of their last five league games and have failed to score a single goal in any of those four occasions (they have scored just 11 goals overall this season). On the other hand, they conceded four goals themselves last time in Florence, and there is probably no doubt about the winner of this match with leaders Inter, who scored four goals against Cagliari last time.
Inter are in great form and with 43 goals scored are the most productive team in the league. Coach Simone Inzaghi has been able to build on his quality work at Lazio and Inter also impressed last time with 15 shots on target, a record in Serie A since 2004 when this data started to be tracked! The question is how many goals the visitors will score in Salerno. In their previous away appearance in Rome, they scored three in the first half and will surely attempt something similar this time around.
Salernitana are clearly in last place in the table with the fewest goals scored in the competition and are the second most goals conceded. Inter are at the opposite pole, first place, best attack in league and second best defence. Moreover, the home team is in real danger of being eliminated from competition and that certainly doesn't add to the relaxed atmosphere in the dressing room. Motivation can be quite disturbed. Inter, on the other hand, can break the record for goals scored in a calendar year.
My bet:
Total Goals - Inter Milan - Over 2.5 @ 1.72 (bet365)
