The weekend's English Premier League schedule will be headlined by a Friday night clash between two of this year's newcomers, Brentford and Watford. If someone had offered both teams before the start of this season that neither of them would be in the worst three places after 15 rounds played, they would probably have happily agreed. And indeed, neither of these London teams are in relegation positions, which is a definite positive.
But a look at the last six games of both teams is not so great - each won only one game. In both of last year's encounters, exactly two goals were scored, and while the match ended in a 1-1 draw at Watford, the home team won 2-0 at this stadium. Brentford lost their win at Leeds in the last round with a goal late in stoppage time and will be looking to put things right. Watford's results have again been affected by a heavy opponents recently, but the general consensus is that Brentford, led by Thomas Frank, have been the better side.
Brentford have paid the price for being one of the best home teams in League Two in recent years and this time they will confirm that in a reminder of last year's battles for the top of the Championship.
Prediction:
Brentford @ 2.15 (bet365)
