I believe that home Pittsburgh will win against visiting Montreal by at least 2 goals.
Pittsburgh has 33 points in 27 games and is 7th in the Eastern Conference with a score of 80:70. In their last 4 games they beat Anaheim 1-0, Washington 4-2, Seattle 6-1, Vancouver 4-1. Now they will welcome the worst team in away games and will be looking to revenge a 14 day old 3-6 loss. In goal for the Penguins was number two Desmith, who has a 2-4 score in the season. The home team certainly won't want to lose twice in such a short time to one of the weakest teams in the entire NHL. Pittsburgh has shown great defense in recent games. Despite the absence of Malkin, Rust and Guentzel, they are scoring a lot of goals.
Montreal surprised everyone last season when they reached the finals, but they certainly didn't envision the new year that way. They are still looking for the form of last year and defeat after defeat is coming. They have now played 29 games and counts only 6 wins. They have 22 losses with an overall score of 62:102. They are last in their conference and only Arizona is worse in the entire NHL. They're still plagued by a massive injury list. They've only scored 6 points out of a possible 26.
Missing: Byron, Edmundson, Callagher, Niku, Price, Petry, Anderson, Toffoli, Evans, (Dvorak)
Montreal has the worst defense in the league, conceding 3.52 goals per game. If Pittsburgh builds on their performance, they should beat Montreal by at least two or more goals and pick up a win.
My bet:
Asian Handicap: Pittsburgh Penguins -1.5 @ 1.83 (bet365)
