Russia: KHL
In today's KHL matchup between Omsk and Dynamo Minsk, I've picked a bet on a point from former great talent Yakupov. He was headed to the NHL, he was going to be a star... but things have changed and he's now playing for Omsk. He has 24 points in 41 games this season, and I believe he will score at least one more in the game against Dynamo Minsk.
Yakupov is a member of the second forward line, along with Peter Cehlarik. Yakupov has an Ice-time of over 17 minutes per game, which gives us a good chance for a point. He also plays in a power play formation, which is also good for us.
Another reason is that Omsk plays relatively defensive, cautious hockey, where relatively few goals are scored (as in the KHL), but this is not the case for Dynamo Minsk. This team scores a lot of goals, but also concedes a lot of goals, and even though they are roughly in the middle of KHL, they have received almost the most goals of the entire KHL (not counting Kunlun). That's why I expect more offensive hockey here than Omsk is used to and I think Omsk could score at least 3 goals in a game here and one of them could be scored by our player.
Summary:
1) Ice-time over 17 minutes
2) plays well on the power play
3) actual score this season - over half a point per game
4) opponent is Dynamo Minsk, who concede quite a lot of goals per game
My bet:
Nail Yakupov gets a point to the decision @ 1.90
