After a week-long coronavirus break, the home team will play their 3rd game in the last 4 days, the last one was played tonight and this game will take place in less than 24 hours, while Rangers have played only 1 game so far and have a full day longer to prepare.
Tampa will be missing several players, specifically about 9 players, compared to Rangers who should be missing "only" 5 players. The more fundamental problem I see than the number of absences is the players involved. Tampa will be missing several important players, except for Kucherov, who is injured for a long time and is one of the difference players. Cirelli, Sergachyov, Chernak and Shustr will not play. The biggest problem is at the goalie position, where both the club's number one (Vasilevski) and number two (Elliott) are missing, because both of them have a hit rate above 90%, Vasilevski even has 92.81%. The subs are unfortunately not as good and in 2 games played they have conceded an awful 13 goals from 68 shots. They got 4 goals from Montreal, which is one of the worst teams right now due to big absences and tonight they even got 9 goals from Florida Panthers (6 goal difference). Rangers also played in Florida and although they also lost the game was far better for them and they fought for points until the last second (loss by 1 goal).
The bookmakers are favoring Tampa probably because of the home environment and the mutual matches, but I see it as an even game at least at this point, personally I would rather favor Rangers.
My prediction: New York Rangers (to decision) @ 2.0 (bet365)
