The home team is coming into the game after a long break, as their game against Ottawa was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic (Senators had to postpone three games due to a big illness). Rangers enter the game with a 10-4-3 score (4-1-1 at home). Sabres go into the game with a 7-7-2 score (2-4-1 away).
Rangers will be looking to continue their winning streak, which was broken by the last game in Toronto, where Rangers lost 1:2. Buffalo has been on a roller coaster in recent games, one up, one down. The first interesting fact is that the Rangers have won their last four games at home against Buffalo (3-1, 6-3, 5-3, 3-2).
Rangers will miss Sammy Blais, who is out for the season with a knee injury. The other missing player will be center Mika Zibanejad due to illness. Otherwise, the coach can count on a complete lineup. The away team is in a bad way. Missing are Craig Anderson, Henri Jokiharju, Colin Miller (the only one with a question mark to start tonight), Casey Mittelstadt, Victor Olofsson and Alex Tuch.
It won't be an easy match. Rangers are not that good of a team from my point of view, but they are in form, while Buffalo is not and it's a seesaw game for them. Rangers are playing at home and they have almost no injuries compared to Sabres. Plus, Jack Eichel is history and Buffalo still can't seem to recover from this "goodbye".
My prediction: New York Rangers (in regular time) @ 1.64 (bet365)
