I believe that visiting Philadelphia will beat home Montreal to a decision.
Montreal surprised everyone last season when they reached the finals, but they certainly didn't envision the new year that way. They are looking for the form of last year and defeat after defeat is coming. They have now played 30 games and counts only 6 wins. They have 24 losses with an overall score of 64:107. They are last in their conference and only Arizona is worse in the entire NHL. They're still plagued by a huge injury list. The last 7 games have always ended in defeat for Montreal.
Missing: Byron, Edmundson, Callagher, Niku, Price, Anderson, Toffoli, (Evans), (Dvorak)
Philadelphia has 27 games played with 26 points and a score of 71-89, which places it 11th in the Eastern Conference. They went through a big crisis at the end of November and the beginning of December, taking only 2 points from 10 games for two losses in overtime, but they won their last 3 games against Vegas 4-3, Arizona 5-3 and New Jersey 6-1 and are starting to see better times. I'm sure they will still want to fight for the top 8, which they are 5 points behind, but they are 2 games behind 8th place Detroit. They still have almost twice as many points as Montreal.
Missing: Brassard, Ellis, Farabee, Lazcynski, Thompson
Montreal has the worst defense in the league, conceding 3.6 goals per game. If the home team can build on their recent winning performances, they should celebrate against Montreal.
My bet:
To Decision: Philadelphia Flyers @ 1.58 (bet365)
