The two wins in a row against teams from the bottom of the table were achieved by Mainz, who after ten rounds (5-1-4) have the most points since the 2010/11 season, in which they won promotion to the Europa League under Thomas Tuchel, who also had current coach Bo Svensson on his staff. They could get there from the current fifth place, but it won't be easy to stay there because they have several ambitious competitors behind them. Mainz rely heavily on defence - conceding an average of one goal per game, the second best defence in the Bundesliga.
One of the aforementioned chasers is Mönchengladbach, who fulfilled their role as favourites against Bochum after two mistakes to move two points behind the home team in mid-table. They will want to jump over them and can gain the necessary confidence from their record - Gladbach lost to Mainz in their last match, but before that they have get points nine times in a row in the league and won seven of them.
