EUROPE: World Cup - Qualification
A match from Group A, where I favour Serbia. This team is in 2nd place with a score of 3/2/0 + 12:7 with 11 points. Serbia have even scored more goals than Portugal. Luxembourg is in 3rd place with a score of 2/0/2 + 5:8 with 6 points.
Serbia in their first match (a month ago) clearly beat Luxembourg after winning 4-1. They were the more dominant team in match, outshooting Luxembourg 8:1 in shots on goal.
Seb Thill, who is part of a fairy tale Sheriff Tiraspol, Barreiro (Mainz) is a regular in the German Bundesliga, Gerson Rodrigues recently moved from Dynamo Kiev to the newcomer of Ligue 1 Troyes. Morris is the number one in the Belgian league, captain Jans has been kicking for years in good leagues, so interesting names are sure to be found in the Luxembourg squad. It's true that there are still quite a few above-standard players, but as a whole Luxembourg is not at the level of Andorra or Malta anymore. Still, they are an outsiders for me.
The favourites have to be the Serbians, who have been compact in this qualification, and if they successfully finished the game in Ireland, where it ended 1-1, they could have done even better in Luxembourg. Even so, Serbia have not lost in this qualification yet, having already played Ireland twice and Portugal once. Serbian coach Stojkovic will bring quality to Luxembourg. Milenković, Nastašić, Vlahović (Fiorentina), Rajković (Reims), S. Mitrović (Getafe), Pavlović (Monaco), Tadić (Ajax), Gudelj (Sevilla), Kostić (Frankfurt), Djuričić (Sassuolo), Milinković-Savić (Lazio), Grujić (Porto), A. Mitrović (Fulham), etc. Basically, every player is a top league player.
My bet:
Asian Handicap: Serbia -1.5 @ 2.07 (bet365)
