After 33 games played, LA Kings are in 10th place in the Western Conference with 37 points. In those games, Kings are 91-89. In the Pacific Division, they hold the first non-playoff spot, fifth place. However, they are only one point behind fourth place Edmonton, with one game less, so they would go ahead of Oilers if they win tonight. The last five games have seen the home Kings go 2-1-0-1, earning six points and a 15-17 score. Last time, they won 6-3 against Flyer, before that they beat Canucks 2-1 in a shootout. Well tonight comes a little different size.
The visiting Predators are in second place in the Western Conference with 44 points and a score of 104:91 after 34 games. The visitors are only one point behind first place Vegas, but have two games to play. Nashville can now move into first place in the conference. In the Central Division, Predators hold the first place over St. Louis, to whom they have a one-point lead. In their last five games, they have a 2-1-1, seven points and an 18:14 score. Last time, they were just beaten by a strong Vegas team, 2-3 at home. It should be added that goalie Saros had a great day and turned away 41 Vegas shots, so let's hope he'll be in goal again today. Before that, Nashville beat Chicago 6-1.
Missing:
Kings will be missing five players - Athanasiou, Brown, Edler, Maatta and Walker.
Nashville will have to do without the pair of Fabbro, Novak.
These teams have met once so far this season, a close 2-1 Predators win. Otherwise, in the last eight games between the two teams, Predators have won seven of them in regulation time.
In this game, I'm picking the visiting Nashville. They have a very good season and can move ahead of Vegas to the first place in the Western Conference today (if Vegas falters against NYR, otherwise Nashville will still have two games to make up the loss). Another factor playing in favor of our bet is the two teams' matchups - Nashville has dominated seven of the last eight games in regulation time, so they probably know how to play against Kings. Plus, Predators go to the Kings ice boosted by a win in Vegas, which could also help. Kings did beat Flyers and Canucks, but those teams are nowhere near Nashville's level this year. And if Saros still catch the same way he did on Vegas ice, it will rapidly increase the chances of winning.
My bet:
3-Way: Nashville Predators @ 2.20 (bet365)
