Premier League
Liverpool are in for a big day as local legend Steven Gerrard returns to Anfield, albeit as coach of visiting Aston Villa. However, I certainly don't expect any mercy from the most productive team in the competition (44 goals), especially when the home side is only one point behind the first place.
Liverpool have won four times in a row in the league and even though they were lucky last time at Wolverhampton (they scored a goal in the 94th minute to make it 1-0), the previous three wins with four goals scored speaks about the team's great comfort. The Reds have already scored 18 goals at home (in seven games) and have led after the first half on five occasions, which could easily be repeated this time.
Liverpool have the fewest losses in the league, the best attack and the second best defence. Their score is 10/4/1 + 44:12 with 34 points. Although Liverpool have managed to draw 3 times at home, they are still the only team from the league that hasn't lost. Liverpool have the second best form from their last 5 league games - 4/0/1. The goalscorers table is dominated by LFC players, with Salah leading the way with 13G + 9A and Jota and Mane in 3rd place with 8G + 1A, respectively 7G.
Aston Villa came alive under the new coach and won three of their four games. But they have lost six of their last seven league encounters, conceding at least two goals in all seven. In addition, the visitors will have to do without Leon Bailey, who might not return until the middle of the month, and there is a question mark over the start of Danny Ings. And without their support it will be very difficult to resist the big favourite. In addition, only coach John Gregory has ever won the first two away games on the Aston Villa bench and all indications are that the famous Stevie will not compare to him.
My bet:
