Strasbourg continues to surprise everyone, most recently beating Nice in the south of France 3-0 to move into 6th place just behind the European Cup qualifiers. The pre-season arrival of new coach Julien Stephan has given them a new breath of fresh air and the Alsatian side have been playing well in recent months. The team can rely on the still productive duo of Ajorque (9+5) and Diallo (8+1). Both of them scored just last week in Nice, but the whole team is working well. The second best offense in the competition will welcome the best defense in the competition.
Marseille lost in the last match to Brest (1:2), lost 2nd place and Rennes leapfrogged them by two points. Jorge Sampaoli's team was in control of the game for a relatively long period of time and led after a goal by Gerson, but two second-half mistakes turned the game around. "Les Olympiens" then faced Russian Lokomotiv Moscow on Thursday in the Europa League, which they defeated 1-0 at home to finish third in the group (securing their participation in the Conference League), which may leave the team somewhat disappointed given that Galatasaray, who are definitely worse on paper, were promoted at their expense. Marseille has not been that productive in the final stages in recent rounds, and often the ceiling for them is at most one goal scored, which will be hard to overcome somehow against Strasbourg's well-organized defense.
Although Marseille currently has the best defence in the league (14 goals conceded), I think they will have an abnormally hard time in Strasbourg because they are playing very well here and have scored 23 goals in 9 games. I'm betting on the home team to win at least one of the halves played, which will allow them to continue surprising the whole of France with great team performances.
Prediction:
Strasbourg wins at least one half @ 1.78
