With two wins over the newcomers (Clermont 3:2, Troyes 0:1), St. Etienne are back in the race for another table move above the relegation zone, just one point behind the four teams ahead of them. In the last mentioned match at Troyes, St. Etienne kept a clean sheet for the first time this season.
Paris, who are quietly leading the league by 11 points, will visit the mining town and yet there is talk in the media of a change of coach, but it is not yet clear how it will turn out and who would eventually replace Pochettino in Paris. On Wednesday, the Parisians played a Champions League match against Manchester City, which they were unable to match especially in terms of play and took home a 1:2 defeat, although they led for some time after Mbappé's goal from the 50th minute. However, they are guaranteed to qualify for the knockout stages from second place despite the defeat, and so they can continue to focus on at least maintaining their points lead in the top French competition. A week ago against Nantes, Paris lost Keylor Navas to an unnecessary sending off, then conceded a goal, and then won the game 3-1 in the end with a bit of luck in a numerical disadvantage. Leo Messi scored his first ever goal in Ligue 1 and he will surely try to follow it up in St. Etienne.
Since the odds are not that tempting for the Parisians, I'm going with 2 goals in the second half. A lot of goals have fallen in both teams' matches this season and we will definitely see at least 2 in the second act, which is usually more open than the first.
Prediction:
2nd Half Goals - Over 1.5 @ 1.61 (bet365)
