A batch of great Sunday matches in the French top league will start with Lille's afternoon duel against Lyon. The home side sensationally dominated their group with a 3:1 win over second-placed Salzburg in the Champions League on Wednesday. Before that, Lille were victorious against Troyes (2-1) on Saturday and are slowly putting to rest several games of misery in October and November. The team's top scorer, Jonathan David, came through in both the aforementioned duels and continues to lead the Ligue 1 scorers' table by two goals ahead of the trio of Ajorque, Laborde and Ben Yedder.
Lyon, on the other hand, hasn't been convincing in the last two weeks. Last round they drew 2:2 at Girondins Bordeaux, where they lost the lead twice very cheaply. Then on Thursday, there was another draw, this time 1-1 at home against Rangers in the Europa League, but there was basically nothing to play for. On top of that, Karl Toko Ekambi, one of Lyon's key offensive players, brought a slight health problem in the game, while Lucas Paqueta, who has a disciplinary yellow card penalty, and the team's best stopper Jason Denayer (ankle injury in the last league game), among others, will also be absent.
Lille will be far more determined to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League and also hungry for another win that would take Jocelyn Gourvennec's team all the way to 5th place. I'm betting on the home side, who should have a slight edge in the match, in the "match no draw" bet, where the odds are very nice.
H2H:
Lyon 2:3 Lille
Lille 1:1 Lyon
Lille 1:0 Lyon
Prediction:
Draw No Bet: Lille @ 1.61 (bet365)
