Neither team is in an ideal starting position ahead of the two games; both teams desperately need a win, preferably in both duels. Lazio lost 0:1 at Galatasaray after a goalkeeper's mistake, but then they beat Lokomotiv Moscow at home and could easily have won by more than 2:0.
Marseille didn't lose in the group, but two draws means only two points and that's not enough for a possible promotion, just like a single goal scored. The French team started the season promisingly, but then stopped scoring goals and won only one of their last five matches.
On the other hand, Lazio's form is growing, they beat the reigning champions Inter Milan 3-1 at home at the weekend and Maurizio Sarri must have been happy with his team's performance. His domain is offense and his team is scoring nicely at home, scoring eight goals in the last three games at the Olympic Stadium. Roma's offensive duo of Immobile, Felipe Anderson is on a fire and if they both score, it won't be a surprise. Lazio's highly positive score of H2H in European Cups (4-1-1) also speaks for a win, having beaten Marseille in both duels (2-1 home, 3-1 away) in the 2018/19 season.
