Bilbao is a traditional Spanish league club. There are only 3 clubs in Spain that have never been relegated from the Spanish top league - Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Bilbao. Bilbao usually finish around 8-10th place where they are at the moment (8th) but I think this club has the ambition and quality of squad for European cups as well.
In the squad we can find several experienced players such as Inaki Wiliams, Muniain, Raul Garcia or Spain's national team goalkeeper U. Simon. On the bench we find the experienced coach Marcelino, who has big experience in the Primera Division as a player but also as a coach. Before joining Athletico, he coached Sevilla, Valencia and Villareal.
Athletico is currently the club with the best defence in the league, having conceded only 5 goals in 9 games. The problem is that they don't score many of them either and have only scored 9 times.
On the other hand, there is Espanyol who returned to the top league this season after a short break. After a poor start, their performances have slowly started to improve and they even managed to beat Real Madrid 2:1. However, I must note that I saw the game and Real's defence really have bad day.
Espanyol are currently in 11th place with a score of 10:10 after 10 games. Among their most interesting players are their striker Raul de Tomas, who has scored 5 goals in the league this season, or the experienced Diego Lopez in goal.
Bilbao for me has a more experienced and better team. They also have the best defence in the league and I believe they can beat Espanyol in this match. But for a safer bet, I'd rather choose DNB.
