Eleven of Alavés' fourteen points have come in the last month. Thanks to the current five-match unbeaten streak (3-2-0), they have left the relegation places and before Saturday's match against Celta they are even one step higher in the table (14th) than their opponents (15th), despite playing one match less. Alavés' streak is all the more remarkable because neither Barcelona (1-1) nor Sevilla (2-2) lost it, while Alaves played both favourites away and even lost 3 points in Sevilla in the second minute of injury time. To these successful trips, Alavés added a win at Cadiz (2-0) and home triumphs over Elche (1-0) and Levante (2-1), so it's no surprise that they are now confident of taking on Celta in the northern Spanish clash.
The visitors arrive in the Basque capital of Vitoria-Gasteiz after three consecutive draws, but also against strong opponents (Vallecano 0-0, Barcelona 3-3, Villarreal 1-1). Moreover, Celta have been doing well at Alavés recently, beating them three times in a row with an overall score of 11-1.
Therefore, it is not easy to find a favourite in this competition. I expect the match to be evenly matched, so I'll bet on a double chance draw.
Prediction:
1st half result or match result - Draw @ 1.63
