ITF WOMEN - SINGLES: W25 Naples, FL 2 (USA), clay - Semi-finals
This match will offer us a duel between Swiss tennis player Lulu Sun (325) and Nefisa Berberovic (467) from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Sun is a 20-year-old tennis player and is currently at her ranking maximum. She is mainly a hard player and her most successful season was in July when she played in the final in Palma de Rio, Spain and Lisbon, the second one resulting in a title. After that, there was a big drop-off in her game, with the next 5 tournaments always ending after the 1st or 2nd match. 2 weeks ago she moved to clay and in Orlando she played a quartefinal with Korean Jang. Here she beat Tilbuerger, Dmitruk and Shaffer.
Berberovic is a 22-year-old player with a ranking maximum of 448th (September 2021). She plays mainly clay this year (27/14) and has one final (Sibenik) and several other quarterfinals placements. Here she beat Japan's Okamura smoothly in the opening round and didn't lose a set to either Australia's Popovic or the local Kalieva.
In this match I will trust Berberova, who has had very good results on clay lately and even here she has had a slightly tougher draw and so far she is doing very well. Sun is not that strong on clay and I expect her to say goodbye to the tournament after this match.
