ITF WOMEN - SINGLES: W25 Pretoria (South Africa), hard - Quarter-finals
This match will offer us a duel between Russian tennis player Maria Bondarenko (799) and Line Glushko (600) from Israel.
Bondarenko is an 18-year-old player and was ranked No. 8 in the juniors. On the women's side, she has played only one tournament this year, the clay W15 in Aix en Provence, where she played the final against Desperrier (660.) and lost 2:0. Here in South Africa, she played her first tournament this year in Johannesburg and finished in the 1st round against Swiss Sun (352). Her next attempt ended already in the qualification when she failed as a huge favourite against the 17-year-old home qualifier Pretorius. Here she already passed the qualification and in the 1st round she beat Morvayova from Slovakia and then she beat her compatriot Koval in 3 sets.
Glushko is a 21-year-old tennis player and is one position below her maximum. This year she started playing in April, on the hard in Egypt and at home in Ramat Hasharon, taking one final and 2 semifinals. She also performed well on clay in Prague, where she made it through the qualification and beat Udvardy and Hartono in the main event, and fell to Parry in the quartefinals. So far she has been progressing very well here and has not lost a set and last time she beat the German Lys.
For me, the favourite here is the Israeli tennis player, who is after all a bit more experienced and has managed to beat several much higher ranked tennis players this year. In addition, the surface plays into her cards, as the Russian prefers clay.
Line Glushko to win @ 1.71
