ITF MEN - SINGLES: M25 Harlingen, TX (USA), hard - 1/16-finals
This match will offer us a duel between British tennis player Luke Johnson (660) and Matias Descott (495) from Argentina.
Johnson is a 27-year-old tennis player and the highest he has looked at was 643rd (August 2021). He's done particularly well indoors this year (19/7) and last week he claimed his 1st title of the year at the M15 in Ithaca, beating home player Kingsley in the final. He also played the final on hard (indoor) in Forbach, France, where he fell short to home player Added. He has an 8/7 score on hard this year and his furthest reaches are in the quarterfinal (Sharm Al Sheikh, Heraklion).
Descotte is also a 27-year-old player and has a ranking high of 285 (August 2019). He has played mostly hard this year and has won one title. That was in Cancun, Mexico, where he beat Lilov in the final. He also played the final in Monastir where he fell short to Rodriguez Taverna and added 2 more semifinals appearances. Last time he jumped off the hard and he went indoors in Tallahassee, where he played a quartefinal.
In this match, the favourite for me is the Argentinian tennis player, who is a bit more experienced and hard suits him more than the British player, which he proves this year. Johnson has had a tough title week and I expect Descotte to have more energy.
