ITF MEN - SINGLES: M15 Antalya 34 (Turkey), clay - 1/8-finals
This match will offer us a duel between Serbian Hamad Medjedovic (681) and Damien Wenger (499) from Switzerland.
Medjedovic is an 18-year-old tennis player and was also ranked 9th in the juniors. This year he made his presence known in April at the home event in Belgrade, where he beat the German Otte and the Colombian Galan as a wild card. On the ITF circuit he played semifinal in Antalya and repeated the same result in May in Prijedor, Bosnia. He hasn't played there since and he didn't show up again until mid-November in Antalya, when he lost to American Crawford. Last time here he finished in the 2nd round against Gerch, against whom he played only 2 games. This week he easily beat Italian Misasi in the 1st round here.
Wenger is a 21-year-old player and is currently at his ranking maximum. He is playing exclusively clay this year and is doing well on clay (57/19). He has won 3 titles (Poprad, Oldenzaal, Nules) and the last one just last week when he beat the likes of Damas, Sanchez Jover, Palosi and easily Picchione in the final. Here, in the opening match, he had an easy time against the Romanian Dumitre, who won only 3 GAMES.
In this match, the big favourite for me is the Swiss tennis player, who is in form and playing really well this year. Medjedovic has played some amazing results in the spring, but he has played minimum matches in the last few months and I expect that he will not be enough to take on the upstart Wenger.
