ITF WOMEN - SINGLES: W25 Petange (Luxembourg), hard (indoor) - 1/16-finals
This match will offer us a duel between French tennis player Elsa Jacquemot (311) and Mandy Minella (242) from Luxembourg.
Jacquemot is an 18-year-old tennis player and former world junior number one and is one position away from her women's maximum. This year she dominated the clay tournament in Perigeaux and went on to play in semifinal in Amiens. She also made a decent transition to indoors, beating Grabher, Barnett and Dodin in Poitiers and finishing in semifinal at Waltert. Here she participated in the 3 round qualifier which she made it through smoothly without losing a set after wins over Granwehr, Bartunkova and Monnot.
Minella is a 35-year-old player and her highest ranking was 66th in the world rankings (September 2012). This year she hasn't been doing well at all and played her best on clay in Oeiras in April, where she played the quartefinal. However, she has not managed to get past the 2nd round in any other tournament. Last time in Linz she won only 3 gams with Tsurenko and her indoor score is 1/4 this year.
In this matchup of 2 generations, I'm going to trust the young blood, French Jacquemot. She has already established herself on the women's circuit and has had some very good results. She's already played her qualification here, which she did very well.
