ATP - SINGLES: Gstaad (Switzerland), clay - 1/16-finals
In this duel I see Cerundolo (19y., ATP: 144.) as a slight favourite, who won his first ATP title this year at home in Cordoba and then managed to win the challenger in Rome. He has a great 24/10 score on clay.
Gaston hasn't been playing badly this year either, and he has managed to reach the final of a clay court challenger twice, but lost both times. The last time was on Sunday, when he played the final in Iasi (Romania), where he lost his match against Kolar (2:1). The big negative for Gaston is match fatigue and travel. And he probably won't have time to get familiar with the local surface (he's playing in Gstaad for the first time).
Gstaad is a pretty high city (altitude 1050m), the thinner air allows the balls to fly faster and therefore the service plays a bigger role here than is common in clay tournaments. Cerundulo may not have any extra serve, but he still has it, at least a class better than Gaston who is only 173cm, so Cerundolo should have a solid advantage here.
My bet:
Juan Manuel Cerundolo @ 2.10 (bet365)
