ATP - SINGLES: Toronto (Canada), hard - 1/16-finals
Gael Monfils (34 years old, 24th ATP) has a 3/10 score this season, 0/3 on hard court. This season is the worst of Monfils' career and I doubt anything will change that. He's a showman, but after his injuries, he's never gotten back on form, he's just going downhill and this year's stats only confirm that. He hasn't even won on hard court yet this year and his performances on clay and grass were not good at all. He's mainly trying to impress the crowd like Bublik or Kyrgios and it's not paying off much.
John Millman (32 years old, 42nd ATP) has a 14/18 score this season, including 5/6 on hard court. Although Millman didn't do well in the first round, he still won it 2:0 against Berankis (ATP: 84.) and he wasn't the favourite. Since Olympic Games he has been playing very well and has won for example against Opelka (ATP: 32.) or Musetti (ATP: 62.).
My bet:
John Millman @ 1.73 (local bookie)
