After the New Year, Everton welcome Brighton and I'll take a bet on the home side not losing.
Probably few expected Everton under experienced coach Rafa Benitez to be so low in the table, as low as 15th place, but after an injury comes key player Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who should help his team significantly. This striker has scored 29 goals in the last 2 seasons in the PL and has become the key player of the team, which was confirmed in the beginning of the season when he scored 3 goals in the first 3 games and he also scored against Brighton, where Everton won away 2-0. Everton managed to pick up 7 points out of 9 possible at the start of the season with Calverton-Lewin in the line-up, but he subsequently got injured and a significant drop in results came.
Calvert-Lewin is finally back and I think his presence will have a positive impact on Everton's results, moreover, it's not just about him, there are several other very good players in the home team, led by Demir Gray, who was the number 1 offensive player in Calvert-Lewin's absence, he currently has 5 goals and is the home team's top scorer.
Everton, despite being so low in the table, have had some decent results which are testament to their quality, most recently they took a point at Chelsea, before that they managed to beat Arsenal at home. Although Richarlison should be missing today, but he is not such a difference player as one might expect, he is not in extra form, so his absence should not be that noticeable.
The visitors from Brighton also managed to take point from Chelsea last round after a 1-1 draw, but they have won only one of their last 14 games and I don't think Everton, who can play good football at home, should drop all 3 points. Plus the visitors should still be missing captain Dunk in defence, which could be a big problem.
Everton are on a 4-match unbeaten run against Brighton and have won each of their 4 home games against this opponent so far.
My bet:
Double Chance: Everton or Draw @ 1.40 (bet365)
