So...everybody's talking about that Mbappé's winner in yesterday's final of Nations League against Spain:

What do you think?

I don't agree with this goal (despite having Mbappé to score bet) as the ball is going to Mbappé even without help of Garcia. But of course, changing the rule is impossible in my eyes as the referees would have so many different views on what offside is and what not... Having this rule isn't fair from time to time, but it always gives exact parameters for all referees. My vote goes to good goal.

There's no way to be a defender with any sense of responsibility and let Mbappe run free here. Especially as the front defender in the line, you have no way of knowing if your line was setup or not. The fastest player in the game is running free on goal, if you want to compete professionally as a defender you better be trying to stop that ball. Punishing someone for attempting an interception is absurd.

I agree, anyone would try to stop that ball knowing player like Mbappé is behind you, BUT... how could they change the rule to be ALWAYS right?

For example, remember that disallowed Man City goal in UCL semis against Spurs? Eriksen then passed the ball back so bad, but was very lucky that Llorente deflected the ball a little so it was offside pass from Llorente and not Eriksen. It's the opposite situation but the same problem.

I'm thinking about it but can't find solution for this rule, the only reasonable change would be letting referees to decide by themselves with counting on circumstances (if the pass or deflection was deliberate or not etc...)

Yes, I would rather see referee to decide from what he see… the fact that this situation decided final of the cup game is pure sadness
