NORTH AMERICA: World Cup - Qualification - Third stage - Round 1
This should be a clear-cut thing in favour of the USA. It is a traditional member of the World Cup.
USA won the Gold Cup this year, beating rival Mexico 1:0 after penalty shootout in the final and confirmed their rising qualities.
Individually, USA and El Salvador squads are absolutely not comparable. Players from big clubs from Europe are not missing in the nomination for the USA this time. Gio Reyna (Borussia Dortmund), Christian Pulisic (Chelsea), Weston McKennie (Juventus), Sergiño Dest (Barcelona), Tyler Adams (RB Leipzig) and other really great names.
This in itself does not guarantee success, on the other hand, the El Salvador team showed that they can compete with bigger teams (with Mexico at the last Gold Cup), but they lost despite their good performance. I don't want to downgrade the quality of Mexico, but they certainly don't have that many stars in their squad and that's why I think the game should end up being decided by more than 2 goals for USA.
