Bundesliga
The favourite here is probably Frankfurt, who seem to have finally recovered from the crisis at the beginning of the league. Frankfurt tried for a long time to fill the hole left by Andre Silva, who moved to Leipzig, and who was Frankfurt's top scorer last season with 28 goals and the second top scorer in the Bundesliga (after Lewandowski), but it didn't go well at first for Frankfurt and after 10 rounds they had only one win! Ironically on the field of Bayern Munich! With another 6 points for 6 draws, Frankfurt had only 9 points after 10 rounds and it looked like it would be more of a fight for survival this year than a fight for the cups.
But then finally came the wins: 2:1 in Fürth, 2:1 at Union in Berlin and especially 5:2 with Leverkusen, and lastly a 3:2 win in Möchengladbach. In total, 5 wins and 15 points from the last 6 games! Frankfurt has now moved from the bottom of the table to 7th place and is only 3 points away from 4th place which means the Champions League.
Mainz is really strong this year. They are just ahead of Frankfurt in the table, last time they beat 4-0 at home Hertha, before that they lost to Bayern by a goal (1:2). In addition, Mainz have been doing very well against Frankfurt for a long time. Mainz won 3 times and drew once in their last 5 matches against Frankfurt. Two of those wins were in Frankfurt! Both 2-0. The last one was in January this year, when Frankfurt was in the top four of the table!
In the end, I decided to go with the goal count bet, which seems like a safer bet to me.
Last results:
Frankfurt (7x Bundesliga, 3x EL): 3:2, 5:2, 1:1, 2:3, 2:1, 2:2, 2:0, 2:1, 2:1, 1:1 = an average of 3.6 goals per game
Mainz (9x Bundesliga, 1x Cup): 4:0, 1:2, 3:0, 1:2, 1:1, 1:1, 2:1, 2:2, 4:1, 3:1 = an average of 3.3 goals per game
My bet:
Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.72 (bet365)
