Edmonton is in 3rd place in the Western Conference after two games with 4 points and a 8:4 score.
Anaheim is right behind Edmonton in 4th place after 3 games with score of 8:5.
Edmonton - Calgary 5:2
Edmonton - Vancouver 3:2 (after penalty shootout)
Calgary - Anaheim 2:3 (after overtime)
Anaheim - Minnesota 1:2
Anaheim - Winnipeg 4:1
If we look at Edmonton, we see that they finished 2nd in the North Division the previous season and then fell to Winnipeg in the Stanley Cup 1/8-finals. Edmonton has built their success on names like McDavid, who scored 109 points the previous season and Draisaitl (89 points). Edmonton also has a good offensive line with Nugetnt - Hopkins who scored 37 points and Edmonton has added Hyman, who came from Toronto where he scored 34 points. In Edmonton's defense, Barrie can score 49 points or Nurse 37 points. I believe Edmonton will want to win at home and the above players will play their part.
And if we look at the Anaheim Ducks, they finished 8th last season, last in the West Division and the second worst team in the NHL. Anaheim is going through a rebuild, but the pace of the rebuild is not miraculous and the Ducks are unlikely to make the playoffs again this season. In addition, Anaheim played a game on October 19, 2021 at 3:30 a.m. against Calgary on Calgary's ice, thus traveling and now will travel again to Edmonton, which I do not take as a significant fact, as NHL players are used to this and we can not talk about fatigue at the beginning of the season, but it is a minor minus for Anaheim.
