Champions League
Sporting won the Portuguese league, but their first group game showed that they are well behind the European top teams. Ajax beat them 5-1 away and it won't be much better in Dortmund. Sporting have lost seven of their last eight away games in the Champions League and twelve of their previous thirteen games in the European Cup in Germany.
In the league, they haven't been able to follow on their form from last season and have drawn twice in seven games and have struggled with shooting productivity recently. Against a weak Mariti, only a penalty in the 95th minute saved them.
In 2016, they lost twice in the group stage to Dortmund, who didn't have the attacking power they have now. This is mainly by Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland, who at 21 has already scored 21 goals in the Champions League and has shot his way into the top 50 goalscorers in the millionaire competition. Haaland also scored two weeks ago in Istanbul, where Dortumund won 2-1. Haaland was on a break in the Bundesliga this weekend, but he should be back on the pitch again today to break down Sporting's defence.
However, the visitors could also score at least once, as Dortumund have won all three home games in the Bundesliga but have not kept a clean sheet once (5:2, 3:2, 4:2).
The match between promises to be an interesting offensive match. The quality, form of the team suggests a win for the home team, which will be spiced up by at least three goals in the match. And with the format of the players, this should not be a problem.
My bet:
Dortmund and Over 2.5 Goals @ 2.20 (bet365)
