EUROPE: World Cup - Qualification
On Friday, the Czech national team will face Wales for the second place in Group E. If coach Šilhavy's squad fails to beat Wales, or even just draws, they could make their journey to the World Cup in Qatar very difficult, or they will have to rely on the results of other teams. Czech Republic is under pressure ahead of the upcoming duel, but things are working out for the team. The home team will be playing in Eden (Prague), where there will be a good atmosphere.
Striker Patrik Schick returns to the team after a ban and is in great form, scoring twice for Leverkusen at the weekend and scoring six goals in seven Bundesliga games, which is the form of his life. To make matters better, the main rival for second place, Wales, will arrive in the Czech Republic without their biggest star Gareth Bale. Real Madrid winger is injured, which will come in very good for Czech Republic, as the Welsh captain decided the first match with a successful centre for the only goal of the game. Bale is also one of the team's top scorers (3+2 in qualifying), his long-range shooting and standard shots will be missed. Wales have struggled at the finishing, failing to score in three of their previous four games (qualifiers, friendlies, Euros). On the other hand, the Czech team's defence can rely on the healed Čelůstka, who performed well against Rangers and in the derby with Slavia. Novák also returns to the national team, while Jankto is out of action.
In any case, Czech Republic is confident at home, having managed to take points from both England (2:1) and Belgium (1:1) in Eden previously.
My bet:
Czech Republic @ 1.70 (bet365)
