HOCKEY: Czech Republic
Trinec are in first place with a big lead of seven points over second-placed Hradec. They have already extended their point streak to fifteen games, taking full points in the last five games. Trinec confirms its role as the main candidate to win the title and so far has not much rivals, their opponent today is also considered one of the favourites for the title, but so far Sparta is much worse off. Trinec can rely on practically all four lines, in the last game against Litvínov (5:2 win) all lines scored.
Prague players have a lot to improve after the last four games, they were leading in each of the games, but always ended up losers. Especially in the last game Sparta completely collapsed in the last minutes, with Olomouc leading 3:0 five minutes before the end, but Olomouc managed to draw and win the game after a shootout. Visitors are full of injured players, David Němeček, Miroslav Forman, Vladimír Sobotka, David Vitouch, Alexander Salák and the most productive Spartan player Erik Thorell did not play. Then they have nowhere to go and half the squad is made up of juniors.
Trinec is the favourite, Sparta will be very weakened, so Trinec could add all three points to the table and win for the 16th time in a row.
