HOCKEY: Czech Republic
Trinec are still in 1st place, but have won two of their last five games, most recently losing 1:3 at home to Vítkovice. Trinec got into a three-goal deficit in the first half, only a few minutes before the end Marincin managed to reduce it, but it was not enough and Vitkovice won the derby. Trinec can be calm despite the latest setback, there are a lot of quality players in the team who remember two titles with Trinec (2019 and 2021) and a couple of losses will not upset such an experienced team. As usual, Martin Ruzicka, who remembers all three titles, is the biggest driver of the home team. Goalkeeper Marek Mazanec has been nominated for the national team for the Channel One Cup, and he has even played a few games in the NHL.
Ceské Budejovice are not in the best form at the moment, losing four games in a row. Budejovice relies solely on Pech and Gulaš, in the last game they both contributed at least one point for the 3:2 loss after overtime. Gulaš equalized the score at 2:2, but he will miss this game, as he was additionally penalized for interference on Jakub Lev from Hradec Kralove. Pech, who scores points in almost every game, will miss his line mate a lot.
Budejovice is not doing so well and Trinec is not doing so well in the last five games, but they are still the only team in the league that has not lost twice in a row. This could continue to be the case, plus the visitors will be without scorer Milan Gulas and Trinec could win by a bigger goal difference.
