More than half of the season is gone and the Prague team is in 11th place, where they probably don't want to be (but they have a few games to play). From the last three games Sparta got only one point for the loss to Olomouc 3:4 after overtime, then came defeats to Pardubice 2:3 and Trinec 5:8. The only thing the home team excels at is offensive productivity, they are the best in the competition in terms of goals per game. In other aspects, it's terrible, the defense is not working almost at all and the goalkeepers are not doing well statistically either. Five goalkeepers have been substituted in the Spartans' cage this season and none of them has a success rate above 90%, including Alexander Salak and Matej Machovský, who have experience from the national team.
Boleslav was also not in a good position after the national team break, but they managed to beat Vitkovice 5:2 and moved up to 5th place. For the first time since his return, David Št'astný scored the fourth goal of the season. His return may be a key factor for the team's improvement, after all, he was the team's best player last season. Moreover, the visitors can rely on the solid tandem of Ruzicka and Kroselj, both goalies have a save success rate of over 91%. Despite the much better position in the table, the bookmakers see the favorite in the team from the capital. However, Sparta will have to do without several players as usual, the defence will probably be missing three very good defenders Moravcik, Matuškin and Němeček.
If the home team wants to win, they will have to rely mainly on the performance of their goalkeepers, who are not a great confidence yet. Boleslav could win the first league game in 2022, but maybe only after overtime or a shootout.
My prediction: Mlada Boleslav (to decision) @ 2.60 (bet365)
